Should Internet Gambling be Banned?

The Wall Street Journal Online has asked if Congress should ban Internet gambling, and the people have spoken. As of 5pm EST today, a whopping 82% do not believe that it should be banned, though not all agree as at least one Commenter indicates:

"How much gambling is enough? People who gamble on the web should have to post a bond sufficient to pay their bankruptcy filing fees."

1. Is it me who do the government just want you to work pay your taxes and not be allowed to have fun, i would much rather gamble online than have to keep going out

2. If you believe this survey is accurate, then . . well your must plain nuts. You post a survey on the intenret and you ask if INTERNET gambling be banned?

If you sampled the voting public, you would probally get a differetn answer -and guess what, that is who congress listens to.

3. Banned or not, these thing will remain in the Net. There are a lot of guys who can't live without them. And don't think only of those who are addicted. Online gambling is very profitable business... I belive there are a bunch of guys in the Parlament would decline any law prohibited or restricted online casinos

4. I voted no. Banning internet gambling will do nothing except drive US based companies offshore or somewhere else, if they are not already there. It will not stop those that want to gamble. I do agree that this survey does not reflect the opinions of the population as a whole; it would be much closer than this poll indicates.

5. The flipflopping that goes on with government and gambling is really laughable. Take a look at the states pushing lotteries up the yingyang and it is plain to see that all they want is the money and their cut.

If the government got a cut off of online gaming, which they could if they were smart, but they are not, the national debt could be paid off in a reasonable amount of time. The rest of the world is laughing their ass off, and they should. I am embarrassed and discusted with the powers that be, and these airhead congressmen.
